UNIT 9: MY FAMILY
Lesson 1
I. Objectives
- By the end of this unit, pupils can identify family members.
- Pupils can recognize English sounds and spoken words.
- Pupils can recognize family relationships.
II. Procedures
*Warm up: Review the vocabularies.
A. Presentation
1. Teaching vocabulary
Step 1: Teacher teaches vocabulary: baby, brother, dad, grandma, grandpa, mum, sister.
Step 2: Write them on the board and read aloud the words.
Step 3: Pupils copy down into their notebooks and repeat after the teacher.
Step 4: Ask a few pupils to read aloud.
B. Practice
2. Listen and say
Step 1: Tell pupils that they are going to learn the words for the members of the family.
Step 2: Play CD, holding up the flashcard for each family member as the name is said.
Step 3: Play CD again. Pupils repeat the word chorally and individually.
C. Production
3. Listen and find
Step 1: Say the words at random, e.g. baby, brother, dad, grandma, grandpa, mum, sister.
Step 2: Check pupils are pointing to the correct person in their books.
Step 3: Play CD and pause after each word. Pupils listen and point to the person in their books.
D. Application
- Learn vocabularies by heart.
WEEK 29 – PERIOD 58
UNIT 9: MY FAMILY
Lesson 2
I. Objectives
- By the end of this unit, pupils can talk about one’s family.
- Pupils can write simple words in English.
- Pupils can develop fine motor control.
II. Procedures
*Warm up: Review the names of family members.
A. Presentation
1. Teaching vocabulary and structure
Step 1: Teach vocabulary and structure: He / She is…. They are …
Step 2: Write them on the board and read aloud the words.
Step 3: Pupils copy down into their notebooks and repeat after the teacher.
Step 4: Ask a few pupils to read aloud.
B. Practice
2. Listen and say
Step 1: Tell pupils to look at the picture on pages 52 and 53.
Step 2: Play CD. Pause after each phrase.
Step 3: Play CD again. Pupils repeat the phrases chorally and individually.
C. Production
3. Say and do
Step 1: Point to the flashcard to brother/ sister/ grandpa/ grandma.
Step 2: Repeat with the other flashcard, identifying the family members with He is …, She is …, or They are …
D. Application
- Learn structures by heart.
