I. OBJECTIVES:

1. Aim: By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to read and understand the appearing origins of the Christmas specials.

  • Standard: Read and fill in the table and answer the questions
  • Higher: Write a mindmap about the Christmas

2. Knowledge:

  • Vocabulary: decorate (v); custom (n); spread (v); design (v); throughout (prep); description (n); perform (v); poem (n); base (v) + on sth
  • Structures:
    • Past simple tense
    • To have someone do something (passive voice)
  • Pronunciation:

3. Skills: Reading and writing.

II. PREPARATION:

1. Teacher: Lesson plan, text book, posters.

2. Students:Vocabulary: decorate (v); custom (n); spread (v); design (v); throughout(prep); description (n); perform (v); poem (n); base (v) + on sth

III. PPROCEDURE:

1. Check up: (5’)

Ask one student to write the vocabulary of lesson 3 on the board. Other one writes the mindmap about Chrismas.

I. Pre- writing: ( 13’)

1). Gapfill:

- Ask Ss to work individually to complete the report.

- Call on some Ss to read aloud the completed report.

- Check the answer with the class.

2). Discussing:

- Ask Ss to work in groups to discuss the questions on page 127and write the answer in a paper.

- Go through to observe and get the answer.

II. While- writing: ( 15’)

- Give out the scene: Write the similar report on a festival you joined recently.

- Go through to observe and help if necessary.

III. Post-writing: (10’)

- Collect some reports and correct before class.

- Give out a model report.

This report shows how the school festival was held

The festival was held in the schoolyard. There were two competitions: volleyball and jug of war

In the volleyball game, the were six students in each team and each class had a volleybal team. The played against each other and the 8C team had most points got the grand prize.

There were ten students who took part in the jug of war

Each class had a team and the 9B team won all the others got the first prize.

The school festival was wonderful. it made all the students love their school and study better.

- Listen to teacher and work individually to write a report.

- Correct with teacher.

- read the model report.

IV. HOMEWORK:

  • Complete their report in notebook.
  • Have them to prepare Unit 13 - Lesson 5: Language focus.
