I. OBJECTIVES:
1. Aims: At the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to revise and practise further in Present tense with future meaning, gerunds and modal verbs in asking favors and offering assistance
2. Knowledge:
* Grammar: Gerunds, Modals (May, can, could), present tense with future meaning.
3. Skills: Writing and speaking

1. Teacher: Lesson plan, posters.
2. Students: Gerunds, Modals (May, can, could), present tense with future meaning.
III. PROCEDURES:
1. Checking: Gap-fill (4’)
- She likes…………………. (watch) TV.
- They ……………….(plant) trees along city streets this Sunday morning.
- ………………….. you help me, please ? – Yes, certainly.

Present tense with future meaning (12’) * Exercise 1: (Part 1-P.60) - Give the model and checks the meaning and tense. - Notice Ss with the future meaning of the simple present * Note: When we talk about the plans in the future, we can use the simple present - Run through the information in the box and makes the model with a student. * Model: S1: When do they collect and empty garbage? S2: On January 9 S1:.......................................... - Ask Ss to practise in pairs. - Get feedback & helps Ss to correct. 2. Gerunds (12’) * Form: S + like/love + V-ing (Gerund) + .. .. ¦ Gerunds: come after verbs: love, like, hate, enjoy, give up.... and after prepositions: of, in, on, at after.. Using Gerunds to talk about hobbies ( Part 2-P-61) Example: Ba loves playing soccer, but he doesn/t like washing up - Give examples and checks the form. - Explain how to call it Gerund and notices Ss with the ways to use it. - Notice Ss with using like/love/hate for hobbies - Ask Ss to talk about their friends/ hobbies, using the information in the box. - Ask Ss to write their sentences on the board and helps them to correct. 3. Modals: May/Can/Could (10’) Complete the dialogues, using the way to ask for favorss (Part 3-P.62). *Answer key: a. A. buy a ticket B. take me across the road. C. help me with this math problem D. water the flowers in the garden - Run through the phrases in the box and checks the meaning. - Ask Ss to look at page 55 to revise the ways to ask for favors and offer assistance - Ask Ss to work in pairs to complete the exercise a then exercise b. - Get feedback, corrects and asks them to practice the dialogues in pairs. |
- Read through the model and give their ideas about the tense. - Take notes. - Make the model with T and then practise asking and answering the information in pairs. - Make the conversations in pairs with Exercise 1-p. 60. - Read it and pick out the form - Take notes about that. - Compare it with the informal situaions . - Speak first and then write their sentences individually on the board. - Check the sentences with teacher. b. A. .. very kind .. - Read them and give their ideas. - Revise the ways to use them. - Complete dialogues in pairs, then give their answers. - Check their answers and pracise the dialogues. |
