I. OBJECTIVES:

1. Aims: At the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to talk about activities their HCM Young Pioneers Organization often does.

2. Knowledge:

3. Skills: Reading, speaking & writing

II. PREPARATION:

1. Teacher: Lesson plan, posters, pictures.

2. Students: Vocabulary: character(n), citizenship(n), (to) encourage, awareness (n), organization (n), movement (n), aim (n)

III. PROCEDURES:

1. Revision: (5’) Brainstroming (Groupwork)

- Introduces HCM CYU, asks Ss to find out the full name of this organization.

- Introduces the general information and leads in the lesson.

I. PRE-READING:

1. Vocabulary (7’)

+ Voluntary (Adj) (Situation)

+ (To) encourage (Trans.)

Ex: I encourage him to learn English

+ Awareness (n). (Situation)

- Elicits the words from the Ss and says them out.

- Writes and checks., instructs Ss to read.

- Uses “ Matching” to check vocab. and asks Ss to correct.

2. Open prediction (Part 1-P.57) (5’)

- Hangs on the dates and events and sets the scene.

- Asks Ss to predict the dates from the events in gourps.

- Gets feedback.

II. WHILE-READING

1. Read the text & check predictions (8’)

- Asks Ss to read the text and checks the dates of the events.

- Asks them to share their ideas again and gets feedback.

- Checks answers with the whole class.

2. Read the text and answer the questions (10’)

*Answer key:

- Asks Ss to read the text individually, then share their ideas in pairs.

III. POST-READING: (7’)
