I. OBJECTIVES:

1. Aim: By the end of the lesson ss will be able to listen and read a dialogue and check the sentences.

  • Standard: Practice the dialogue and check the sentences
  • Higher: Ask and answer questions about the dialogue

2. Knowledge:

  • Vocabulary: printer (n); connect (v); properly (adv); plug(n; v); socket(n); manual(n); guarantee (n;v).
  • Structures :
    • Present perfect and past simple
    • Present perfect with “already” and “yet”
    • Pronunciation:

3. Skills: Speaking, listening and reading.

II. PREPARATION:

1. Teacher: Lesson plan, text book, cassette, tape, pictures.

2. Students:

  • Vocabulary: printer (n); connect (v); properly (adv); plug(n; v); socket(n); manual(n); guarantee (n;v).
  • Structures:
    • Present perfect and past simple
    • Present perfect with “already” and “yet”

III. PPROCEDURE:

1. Warm up: (5’) Getting started

T: - Gives out a picture and asks: What is this?

- Ask Ss to make a list of how computers can help us.

Ss: - Work in pairs to make a list.

T: Gets feedback and comments.

2. New lesson:

I. Pre-reading: Introduce the topic of the passage reading and some new words to students.

1. Vocabulary: (7’)

- Elicit the words first, says out then instruct Ss to read the words.

- Write and check the words.

2. True or false prediction: (7’)

- Set the scene “Nam and his father, Mr Nhat are talking about the problem of the computer they have bought. What happens to the computer?”

- Put the chart on the board and have Ss guess which statements are true and which are false.

- Call on some pairs to give their predictions and write their guesses on the board.

II. While - reading:

1. Check Ss, predictions: (10’)

- Ask Ss to open their books, read the dialogue / 138 and listen to the tape.

- Call on some pairs to practice the dialogue before class.

- Have ss work in pairs again to check if their guesses are right or wrong.

- Feedback and ask Ss to correct the false statements.

3. F -> Nam know how to connect s printer and he has connected it properly.

4. F -> Mr . Nhat thinks it is not very helpful.

6. F -> Mr . Nhat thinks the company should do something with it .

- Have Ss copy the correct sentences.

2. Reading comprehension: (7’)

- Explain the words : “Fact and Opinion”.

+ Fact: a thing that is known to be true, especially when it can be proved.

+ Opinion: Your feelings or thoughts about someone or something, raher than a fact.

- Have ss read the statements and check the suitable boxes.

- Call on some Ss to give their answers.

- Get Ss to copy.

III. Post-reading: (7’)

- Ask Ss to use reported speech to rewrite the dialogue.

Divide the class into 3 groups and assign each group to report about 3-4 sentences.

- Have them write their report on a poster and put it on the board for public check.

- Listen to teacher.

- Try to give them out and repeat chorally- individually.

- Copy down and give the meaning, stress.

- Play the game as T’s guides.

- Listen to teacher.

- Read the statements and do the task in pairs.

- Give predictions.

- Listen and read the dialogue.

- Practice in pairs before class.

- Give answer and correct the false statements.

- Write down.

- Listen to teacher.

- Work individually.

- Give answer.

- Copy down.

- Work in groups of four.

- Give out the reported sentences and check with teacher.

IV. HOMEWORK:

  • Learn by heart all the vocabulary of the lesson.
  • Prepare for next lesson: Speak and listen of Unit 16.
    • Vocabulary: facimile (n), reinforced concrete (n), microphone (n), X-ray (n), loudspeaker (n), helicopter (n), laser (n), optical fiber (n), pulp (n), vat (n), roll (n), convey (n).
    • Structures: Passive forms.
